Plans for some Corpus Christi residents to get government financial help to move to make way for a $1 billion Harbor Bridge have been suspended in a dispute over whether landlords also deserve monetary assistance. TXDot has now placed relocations on hold due to violations of residents civil rights. According to a press release, offers to buy property under the voluntary relocation program has been shelved while agencies continue private meetings over the dispute of whether to buy-out property owned by landlords. Attorneys for the residents and property owners say the suspension has breached the community's trust. Construction on the new bridge is expected to continue Monday.
