CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Commissioner Brent Chesney presented a check Thursday for $45,200 for this year's SandCastle Run that happened over a week ago at Bob Hall Pier.
The SandCastle 5K run fundraiser supports local children with diabetes by sending them and their families to camp Sandcastle in Rockport.
"We're really doing all we can to make sure this money stays local, helps kids, and doesn't go towards administrative costs or expenses," said Commissioner Brent Chesney "It goes to kids directly and we're going to continue that push."
Chesney enjoys doing the fundraiser every year and hopes to raise even more money next year.
