Keeping up with a growing community...that was the talk today in Portland.
Mayor David Krebs, delivered his annual state of the city address. He says growing industry in those parts have led to a major population boom.
Krebs says last year alone the city permitted 110 homes...more than double what they had over the previous year...
Krebs told 3 News," We're going to be growing. We did bust through the 20,000 mark in population back in June or July according to our records. it just continues to grow. we're seeing two and half to probably 3 percent growth rate here in the city right now."
The mayor saying he hopes to see more commercial development along Buddy Ganem drive, which would give residents more dining and shopping options in the future.
