An accident near Mt. Vernon and Lansdown shut down power to about 1,000 power customers Wednesday morning.

A vehicle ran into a power pole around 9:30 a.m. shutting down power to the Kiii-TV studios and about 1,000 other American Electric Power Texas customers. The accident also knocked out power to nearby traffic signals.

Police and fire crews were called to help out at the scene of the accident. Officials with AEP estimated that the power should be restored by 10:30 a.m.
