Organizers of the Ingleside Renaissance Faire announced Monday night that this year's event has been canceled due to Hurricane Harvey.

The announcement was made on the event Facebook page.

In 2016, the Faire brought in dozens of vendors selling costumes, souvenirs, and food to those in attendance. This year, since local businesses and hotels are still repairing the damage from Harvey, the event has been canceled.

Organizers had hoped that this year's Faire would bring in more than 2,000 guests.

"It was a hard decision, but the board of directors and the Renaissance Committee got together yesterday, and we were trying to do a big event," Chamber President Jane Gimler said.

The fair draws together vendors, performers and residents to recreate the festive atmosphere of the Renaissance period. Chamber officials said they hope to have the Faire return next year.
