Authorities are investigating reports of a suspicious man offering rides to students in the area of Tom Browne Middle School and Carroll High School.

According to a voice alert from Tom Browne Middle School Principal John Trevino, a man in his 40s has been seen offering rides to students who are walking to school in the morning.

The suspect is described as possibly being Hispanic and has graying facial hair. He has been seen wearing black rimmed sunglasses and drives a red four-door sedan.

Trevino said an increased police presence will be seen in the area as authorities investigate these reports. He also urged parents to talk with their children about the importance of being vigilant and reporting suspicious activity.

Students should walk to and from school in a group and stick to main routes, making sure to avoid interacting with strangers, Trevino said. Wearing headphones is discouraged.

If a student is ever approached by a stranger, they should go to the safest location nearby where there are trusted adults, like school, home or the nearest neighbor.
