CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII-NEWS)- Corpus Christi Police responded to a rollover accident over the weekend that sent a woman to the hospital.

The accident happened just before 2:00 AM on Saturday in the 4400 block of Kostoryz. Officers arrived and found the vehicle upside down with a woman inside. The 50-year-old woman was talking with police until CCFD arrived to free her from the vehicle. Officers said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and found a beer bottle in her purse.

Witness to the accident said the victim's vehicle and a suspect vehicle were traveling on Gollihar when the vehicle with the woman inside hit the vehicle from behind, causing her vehicle to flip over.

The suspect was rescued from the vehicle and taken to Spohn Memorial for treatment. The officer had probable cause to believe the woman was intoxicated and was able to get a blood sample.
