A shed caught fire just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 4600 block of Jose Drive and quickly spread to two homes.

"It's was horrifying," the homeowner said. "When my son called me I could hear my mom screaming in the background."

The homeowner said she was at work but her two children and mother were home at the time of the blaze. The grandmother gathered her grandkids and ran out the door.

"The neighbor's house was on fire, and then our house caught fire too," the homeowner said.

Two adults in the original house made it out and no one was hurt, but both houses sustained substantial damage.

"And to see our house on fire and burnt and all the damage is just unbelievable," she said.

Even though the holidays will be hard, the mother is relieved she can still give something to her children.

"I work really hard, and I'm thankful that the presents that I got them were okay," she said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the Red Cross is assisting both families.
