Department of Public Safety troopers are investigating a single-vehicle accident that left one person dead just before 6 p.m. Saturday about seven miles north of Alice, Texas.

Officers said a 2000 Acura Sedan occupied by two people was heading south on Highway 281 when the driver overcorrected and went off the roadway, causing the vehicle to flip multiple times.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 60-year-old Joyce Ann Wiesehan from Edinburg. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A 13-year-old passenger was taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital via HALO Flight in serious condition.
