A major accident near Aransas Pass Thursday morning sent one man to the hospital after his vehicle was hit by an 18-wheeler.

The accident happened around 7 a.m. on Highway 35 and FM 3512. Department of Public Safety troopers said the driver of a red car ran a stop sign before getting on the highway. That's when the 18-wheeler crashed into the car.

Troopers said that due to the heavy fog, the driver might not have seen the sign and tried to cross the road. The driver of the car was sent to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition. The driver of the truck only suffered minor injuries.
