Kingsville agents with the U.S. Border Patrol seized Wednesday nearly 185 pounds of cocaine valued at over $5.8 million at the Sarita checkpoint.
Agents said they apprehended a male subject as he attempted to smuggle the cocaine through. A K-9 unit had alerted the agents during a vehicle inspection, leading agents to three suitcases in the trunk containing 32 bundles of cocaine.
The DEA took custody of the vehicle and the driver, a U.S. citizen.
Just one day earlier, agents assigned to the Brownsville Border Patrol station confiscated more than eight pounds of methamphetamine from a delivery truck.
The U.S. Border Patrol encourages the public to take a stand against crim and report suspicious activity to them at 1-800-863-9382.
