A class project by marketing students at Texas A&M-Kingsville has also turned out to be a real fundraising effort for a local no kill shelter there.

Jennifer Taylor's class which worked on a marketing strategy and selected the Animal Rescue Kleberg non-profit. Taylor tells 3News she wanted the students to get some real world experience and actually see what it takes to come up with an entire marketing campaign.

So far, the students work has raised over $600 for the ARK group and they are looking at reaching a goal of $2,890.
