In an effort to reduce the number of traffic fatalities, the Texas Department of Transportation kicked off Monday their "End The Streak Texas" campaign.
The goal is to remind drivers to stay alert and take personal responsibility when behind the wheel.
Since November of 2000, there have been more than 59,000 fatalities from motor vehicle crashes on Texas roadways. According to TxDOT, the leading causes of traffic fatalities continue to be the failure to stay in one lane, alcohol and speed.
TxDOT reminds drivers to buckle their seatbelts, pay attention, never drink and drive, and drive the speed limit.
