The Memory Wall at Haas Middle School is now complete, honoring 13-year old Cameron Espinosa, the young football player who died after suffering an allergic reaction to fire ant bites back in September of 2013.

It was during a football game when Espinosa was bit by the fire ants, and following his death, the Corpus Christi Independent School District implemented new safety procedures regarding district sporting events. Those procedures included moving middle school games to Buc Stadium, the Cabaniss Sports Complex or high school fields, as well as stocking all 59 schools in the district with epinephrine injector pens, also known as EpiPens, at a cost of $17,000.
