A bizarre collision in the waters off Port Aransas had the coast guard on alert. The collision happened around 7:15 AM Wednesday morning.
An oil tanker named "The Pride" lost power and ended up drifting in to a mobile oil drilling platform.
Video from the Coast Guard chopper shows the oil tanker and the drilling rig being apart by tugboats from the point of impact.
The crew of that oil tanker said that the collision caused flooding in a forward ballast sectIon of the ship. The crew then ended up grounding the oil tanker 2 miles off the coast.
The rig ended up having one of its cranes smashed by the ship and parts of it could be seen floating in the waters surrounding the accident scene.
