The former owner of a senior assisted living facility is in trial for allegedly abusing some of their clients.
Disturbing allegations were brought to light by an employee who, on the witness stand Wednesday, testified as to what she saw.
The employee, Michelle Lopez, demonstrated what she saw done to one of the victims as she went to work at the Affordable Care Assisted Living and Adult Loving Care facility in Flour Bluff, a facility that has now been shut down. She said a 65-year old man had a plastic bag around his neck that was filled with used diapers, and according to Lopez, she was told by the owner that it was done as punishment.
The facility has since been shut down. The owner, Najmeh Griffin, is charged with three counts of injury to an elderly person. That is a felony, and prosecutors said the case could take two weeks to complete.
