Corpus Christi police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle Monday night in the 700 block of Clarkwood.

It happened around 11 p.m. Investigators said 22-year old George Wilmot was wearing dark clothing and listening to music when an 18-year old driver crashed into him. The driver stopped and waited with the man for emergency responders.

"Wear reflective clothing. Wear bright clothing," said Senior Officer Travis Pace of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Do not walk in the middle of the roadway. You see out here there is plenty of shoulder. Walk way out on the shoulder, because you never know what could happen."

The 18-year old driver was not cited and was released at the scene of the crash.
