A couple of acres of land are left charred after a grass fire Saturday afternoon. A 3 news viewer who lives nearby shot video and sent it to us.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department was called to the 700 block of Clarkwood, near the airport. At one point flames were threatening a nearby mobile home park. While residents there were waiting on fire crews to arrive, they grabbed buckets and hoses trying to douse the blaze and prevent it from getting close to their homes.

Jill Andrade, a resident, says, "I got a shovel started putting dirt on fire back there five gallon buckets then it just spread that way down into the ditch."

No word yet on what started the grass fire. No one was hurt and fire crews prevented it from spreading to the nearby homes.
