It was a long time coming for one special duck that has overcome quite a lot. On Friday, he was released back into the wild.

A mallard duck got acclimated to its new environment over at Lake View Park at Holly and Rodd Field roads. Back in February, the duck was picked up by Animal Control after it was badly mauled by a dog. It was taken to the Texas State Aquarium's Second Chances Wildlife Hospital, where it was brought back to health.

It was certainly a job well done by both the Texas State Aquarium and Animal Care Services.
