The Nueces County Sheriff's Department needs your help finding a home invasion suspect.

According to investigators, the male suspect, seen in a surveillance video from the Stripes convenience store on Ayers, broke into a house on Oct. 20. It happened on County Road 49-A around 5:30 a.m.

An elderly couple and their daughter were inside the house asleep. Detectives said the man walked into the daughter's bedroom and demanded that she give him cash, bank cards and credit cards. He also took a laptop.

The suspect immediately tried to use the cards at three different locations, all of them captured the man on tape. Sheriff's deputies said the victim was able to cancel the cards just in time, so he didn't get any money, but authorities say to have something like this happen in a rural area is rare.

"They're home asleep in bed and this happened," said Captain Bill Edge of the Nueces County Sheriff's Department. "Very unusual in the rural part of the county. I think that's what got this citizen concerned enough to offer reward."

A private citizen is offering a $5,000 reward on top of what Crime Stoppers is offering. If you know anything that can help deputies find this man, call the Sheriff's office at 361-960-6482.
