Recent rains have delayed the Stage 3 Water Restrictions that were set to begin June 1 and announced by Mayor Nelda Martinez on May 16, according to City officials.

In a press release by the City of Corpus Christi on Monday, multiple factors are cited as contributing to the delay, including stable lake levels and logistical requirements to implement the Stage 3 restrictions.

However, Water Operations Director Gus Gonzalez does state in the press release that summer temperatures tent to result in water usage, so the Stage 3 restrictions could be implemented at any time. In fact, City officials say that, if current conditions continue, those restrictions could be implemented sometime in June.
