Corpus Christi police arrested 18-year old Kevin Jazrael Davis for the murder of his 50-year old mother Thursday. The victim was found dead in her apartment at the Windrush Apartments on Kostoryz Road.

It was around 10 a.m. when officers arrived at the apartment complex to initiate a welfare check on the victim, who has been identified as 50-year old Kimberly Hill. That welfare check was requested by the Nueces County Sheriff's Office after they received a phone call from a person stating that he had killed his mother.

When officers arrived, Hill was found lying dead on the floor with obvious trauma to her body, and police immediately began investigating it as a case of homicide.

Police did detain one male person of interest and interviewed residents in the area. Davis was arrested some time later and transported to the City Detention Center.

A woman who lives above the victim said she saw the victim's son on Wednesday night at his mother's apartment.

"I saw him last night at 8 p.m., after I came back from HEB," the neighbor said. "I was coming back from the opposite direction from his house, and he was going toward his house on his bike."

Thursday's murder is the seventh homicide case in Corpus Christi this year. Only one of those seven cases remains unsolved, and that is the shooting homicide at the Corban Town Homes.
