In celebration of Buccaneer Days, the skull and crossbones were flying high above the La Nina. Visitors were allowed to step on board the Columbus replica ship Saturday for a trip back in time over at Lawrence Street t-head at the Corpus Christi Marina.
For $4 bucks, the tours gave people a history lesson about the replica ship. The money will also help with the restoration efforts by the Columbus Sailing Association to one day get the ship sailing again.
Joe Hominick told 3 News, "the idea is to get it sailing back the way it was in the 15th century and to bring crews back on and teach people how to sail it that is our goal."
The group is out there on the t-head every Saturday working on the ship. They hope to hold another tour on the ship for the July 4th holiday.
