The Westside Business Association put on its annual luncheon at the Solomon O. Ortiz Center Wednesday, and the TPCO America project in Gregory took center stage.

TPCO's Director of Administration J.J. Johnston was the keynote speaker at the event, and gave everyone an overview of the project and what it means for our local economy. Before the luncheon, he gave an update on when the facility will start manufacturing pipe.

"We have our in-house finishing facility constructed," Johnston said. "We plan on moving in there in June or July and start preliminary trial production. We hope to be in commercial production this fall."

TPCO has 25 employees right now, but in another two years, there are going to be 400-500 workers.
