The beach is not the only place people are visiting this Spring Break. Another destination, the historic USS Lexington, is getting plenty of visitors.
That was certainly the case on Friday, as lots of folks took in the historic vessel. While there are some college students that visit the Lady Lex, most of its visitors are families.
Last year, approximately 20,000 people visited the Lexington during Spring Break. This year, the numbers are up 15-percent from last year.
Visitors see it as a great educational opportunity.
"We're all down here camping, and we thought this would be a fun family thing to do today on Spring Break," visitor Carole Anne Payne said.
Through Saturday night, the ticket booth closes at 5:30 p.m., and the ship closes at 6 p.m. On Sunday, they will go back to their regular hours, open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
