Islanders Lead Wire-to-Wire in Win Over ACU

"I think the biggest thing for us is to stay calm and relaxed, can't get too high and can't get too low. I thought we did that throughout the course of the game," Coach Wilson said. "ACU is a very good basketball team and they made runs and played like an experienced team, but I thought our guys kept our heads in it and stayed together. It was a really positive thing for us."

The islanders started strong with freshman Myles Smith scoring the first two buckets of the night. Freshman Tre Gray, came off the bench to score 12 points in the first half alone finishing the night with 20 points, 15 of them coming from the arc. Joseph Kilgore finished with a double-double with 13 points and 14 total rebounds. Sean Rhea finished the night with 12 points, shooting 75 percent.

KEY MOMENT/PERFORMER

Sean Rhea in the second half started a run with a pocket pass to an explosive dunk. Joseph Kilgore was 3 assists shy from the very first in school history triple-double with 12 rebounds, 13 points and 7 assists.

THE NUMBERS

Joseph Kilgore finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

Tre Gray came off the bench exploding from the arc shooting 55 percent and 100 percent from the free throw line. He had 20 points leading the bench.

Myles Smith shot 3-3 and was near complete on the free throw line shooting 7-8, finishing the night with 15 points.

Overall the team shot 53.3 percent from the three-point line and 100 percent from the free throw line.

The team overall shot 51.1 percent, 47.8 percent from the arc and 92 percent from the free throw line.
