A new traffic plan will be in place along Highway 361 Friday, March 9, through Monday, March 19, as Spring Breakers make their way to Coastal Bend beaches.
The changes take effect at 9 a.m. Friday.
Here are the changes that beachgoers should be aware of:
- You must enter the beach through Newport Pass Road.
- The beach will have a two-way circular traffic pattern with a middle lane for emergency vehicles only.
- You must exit the beach through Zahn Road.
- A temporary traffic signal will be at Highway 361 and Zahn Road.
- Police will close Newport Pass Road during the evening. Use Zahn Road to enter and exit the beach during this time.
- Beach Access Road 3 will be open to two-way traffic (4x4 recommended for this area).
- Traffic will be monitored by police and may adjust as needed.
The City of Corpus Christi reminds beachgoers to use caution when traveling to the beach and to follow all signage.
