BOYS’ CHOIR TO APPEAR

 

 

“Minnesota’s Singing Boys”, The Land of Lakes Choirboys of Minnesota will present a concert at First United Methodist Church located at 900 S. Shoreline Blvd. in

Corpus Christi, Texas

on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at A free will offering will be taken.

 

 

The Nordic Choir is perhaps the youngest touring choir in the , with most of its members being between eight and eleven years of age. The 34-member boychoir will present a concert of both sacred and secular music for all to enjoy.  The group is traveling from Minnesota south through Ames, Iowa; Liberty, Missouri; Bella Vista, Arkansas, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Plano, Texas; McKinney, Texas; Georgetown, Texas; Corpus Christi, Texas; College Station, Texas; Houston, Texas; New Orleans, Louisiana; Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Nashville, Tennessee; Franklin, Tennessee; Monticello, Iowa and then back to Minnesota.

 

 

The choir is at home near

Elk River, Minnesota

, where it owns its own choir “school” on seven acres, and two of its own tour buses. The boys rehearse twice each week for four and one half hours. Each boy also studies voice privately with his choir director. They learn a wide variety of music (all from memory), which they present on their annual tours.

. Along with Mr. Carpenter, a staff of three other adults travels with the choir. They include Ms. Lisa Griffin, Mr. PJ Fanberg and Mr. Craig Anderson. Music by Strauss, Noble-White, Hogan, Lauridsen, Bach, Purcell and others will be presented including spirituals and music from around the world.  The
