St. George Catholic Chruch Barbecue

Richard Longoria

Parishioners at St. George Catholic Church promise to cook up a day of food, fun and festivities for the entire community Sunday, August 3 at their annual church picnic in George West.  From good old fashioned barbeque and a live auction to artist booths, children’s games, a bird house competition and the ever popular paper BINGO, there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. with barbecue plates complete with all the trimmings and homemade desserts.  The $6 plates will be served inside the parish hall until 2 p.m. or they can be picked up in the drive-through lane located on Travis street.

For those interested in finding unique, one of-a-kind items, the Live Auction begins at 12:30 p.m. and the country store and area artist booths will be open throughout the day. Featured booths will include custom jewelry, wood art, hand decorated apparel, local Karate information and South Texas oil paintings and prints by artist William Smith.

The ever popular paper BINGO will run from 2:30- 6:30 p.m. Players can bring their own dauber or purchase them at the hall.

Other events slated throughout the day include children’s games, a birdhouse competition with silent auction, and a parish raffle. Raffle tickets are $1 a piece and are available at the rectory, or may be purchased from parishioners.  Winners of the raffle will be announced at approximately 6:30 p.m.

For additional information or to purchase raffle tickets please contact the St. George rectory, (361) 449-1893.
