The Coastal Bend Health Education Center is hosting Diabetes Management Classes every Wednesday, to help diabetics and their spouses learn to live with this disease. It is a day long program that teaches patients about diabetes, nutrition, exercise, monitoring their glucose levels, etc. We have a registered dietitian who meets with each patient to create a meal plan designed exclusively for them, based on their individual needs.

CBHEC’s registered nurse also performs lab work before the class begins & once the patient participates in the Diabetes Management Class, they are eligible for free lab work for the entire year, by paying the $25 registration fee. Each month, CBHEC also hosts a Family Night Support group to educate & encourage them to stick with the necessary lifestyle changes they need to make in order to live healthy lives in spite of their diabetes.
