President Bush's former top political advisor, Karl Rove, says frivolous lawsuits, filed by unscrupulous personal injury attorneys are eliminating jobs and increasing everyone's cost of living. Rove was speaking to a packed house of about 900 people at the Ortiz Center today... the occasion was the annual fundraising luncheon for the group, Bay Area Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse. Rove, who's been the major architect of President Bush's political campaigns, stepped down from his white house job this past summer. Nowadays, he's busy giving speeches...and working on a book. Away from the podium today, Rove took time to respond to a new book by former White House spokesman Scott McClellan. In it, McClellan reportedly says Rove gave him false information to pass along to the news media. "He sent me a couple of emails saying that this had all gotten carried out of proportion and that he was surprised they'd done it and said he'd give me a fair explanation in the thing and he's a friend and he's a good guy and we'll see what the book actually says." Back to the luncheon speech, Rove did say that some lawsuits are justified... though he says we've gone from a nation with one lawyer for every 600 people to one lawyer for every 200... he says at that rate, it won't be long before everyone's a lawyer.
