Corpus Christi was warned to be braced for a stiff storm system that was expected to pierce through the area this morning.  But nothing happened.  But then in the middle afternoon, the system grew up fast and spawned a tornado that cut a path through the south side from the area around Woolridge and South Staples through neighborhoods around Cedar Pass/Snowgoose and Everhart.

One apartment complex, Saratoga Cove, sustained moderate damage. A number of mesquite trees were knocked down, shingles from the roof of the complex were ripped off and littered the grounds.  Some vehicle in the parking lot windows were shattered by the strong winds. Some residents say they took shelter in their bathrooms. No one was hurt there.

Over in the Snowgoose/Cedar Pass area some trees were ripped apart, fences were down and people there were in awe over the ferocity of the tornado.  Even a small tornado like today's can pack a good punch.  One shard of a tree was embedded in a backyard fence.
