Eighteen-year-old Jason Smith was led out of his sister's apartment in handcuffs. The high school dropout was headed to jail after someone tipped off police that he was dealing drugs from the La Armada apartments in the 37-hundred block of Rojos Avenue.

Corpus Christi police officer Ismael Ybarra says, "The suspect opened the door we could smell the burning marijuana inside the apartment and we basically froze the scene. He gave us consent to search for more marijuana once we walked in we could see the marijuana on the ashtrays, paraphernalia on the floor."

We're told that some of the marijuana discovered inside the apartment was stuffed in a baby diaper bag. Officers brought out a grocery bag full of the pot. It was all packaged up in small plastic sandwich bags, rolled to sell. The baggies were even marked with prices.

Investigators say the complex is in a drug free zone and that means Smith will face enhanced charges. Eventually Smith's sister arrived at the scene. She began crying when she saw her brother in the backseat of the police car which was a far cry from the phone conversation police say they had with her moments before. Police said when they told her they found marijuana in her apartment, she began to laugh.

We're told Jason Smith was already on probation on a drug charge. He is facing serious jail time if convicted for selling drugs in a drug free area.
