So often you hear about juvenile violence, but in this story, we thought  we'd take an oppurtunity to tell you about some great local teenagers looking to put a stop to the violence and the crime.

They are members of the Corpus Christi Police Department's Police Explorer team. They are back from a  national competition victory in Bay City, Texas. The teens competed against 300 other police Explorers. During the competition the Explorers were given a scenario of a crime and were judged how well they handled it.

The Corpus Christi Explorers placed in 11 of the 20 scenarios, and ended up getting six first place trophies.

Police Exlorer Eric Bradshaw told 3News, "We have to basically...there might be an active shooter.  We have to put the scenario under control. Get everyone on the ground, felony stops, traffic stops. We also had first aid where we need to assist the victim, and show them what we need to do."

CCPD Sergeant Raul Rodriguez said, " What I'm really proud of is that the two teams we sent up there, represented our city and our department extremely well."

The Explorers group is for young men and women 14 to 21, who are interested in making a career in law enforcement.
