22nd Annual Memorial Day Freedom Run

They ran a total of 56 miles, all to show support for our men and women currently serving in the military and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Close to 75 people took part in the 22nd annual Memorial Day Freedom Run.
It began early this morning just north of Benavides.  The runners took turns along the way holding American flags, as they went through the South Texas towns of San Diego, Agua Dulce, Banquette, Alice, and Robstown.  We caught up with them as the runners made it to their final stop, the VFW Post in Calallen.
A group of those runners told 3 News, "we'd like to thank them for serving our country this is for you."
Veteran Rudy Riojas said, "Happy Memorial Day to all my brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces especially those overseas! Make it safe.  Come back home."
A ceremony was held at the end of the race.
On Monday, the Patriot Band and Honor Guard is inviting the public to attend a Memorial Day event being held at Seaside Memorial Park on Ocean Drive to remember those service members who did not make it back home.  It starts at noon.
