Police have made an arrest in the city's 17Th homicide of the year. The discovering was made Friday morning on the 5700 Block of Bobalo near Mcardle and Airline.

Police arrested 57 year old William Evans for murder. Officers say Evans called police Friday morning claiming the victim, 71 year old Linda Lancaster, had overdosed and was unconscious.

Corpus Christi Police Lieutenant Billy Breedlove says the first officers on the scene suspected it wasn't an overdose after Evans made some discerning statements to officers.

It was after Evans was taken in for questioning that police say he confessed to strangling Lancaster during a Thursday night argument at the home. Lancaster's body was found on the kitchen floor.

Some of the neighbors we spoke with say the death is a shock to the normally peaceful neighborhood. Chris Jackson who lives across the street from the victim reported to us he's never heard shouting or fighting coming from the house.

"This is a quiet neighborhood," said Jackson. "Everyone keeps to themselves."
