A local King High School graduate who caught the attention, and the hearts of Coastal Bend residents has passed away.
You may recall in July of 2006, 3 News brought you the story of Matt Beveridge.
Beveridge was a student athlete who was diagnosed with cancer in his lymph nodes just before his senior year.
Despite his long battle with cancer, Matthew Beveridge's devotion to his faith, his family, and friends, remained strong every step of the way.

As a sophomore, Matt Beveridge was throwing touchdown passes as King High School's up and coming quarterback, but he quit the sport to focus on his true love in life, baseball.  The 17 year old's aspirations to play ball professionally were re-focused, after he was diagnosed with cancer in his lymph nodes just before his senior year of high school.

Less than a year after we first introduced you to Matt, his will helped him overcome the odds and he was able to return to the baseball field, and despite the surgeries, despite the treatments, his spirit always remained high.

Beveridge passed away Friday.  He was twenty years old.  A celebration of Matt's life will be held at the Fellowship of Oso Creek Church on Monday at 4 in the afternoon.  The church is located on Yorktown.  A burial will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
