A Police Chief Shot and Killed Outside of San Antonio was also a Former CCPD Officer

A former member of the Corpus Christi Police Department was shot and killed in the line of duty near San Antonio.
Investigators say Michael Pimentel who was currently the Police Chief in Elmendorf was shot several times while making a traffic stop Saturday afternoon in the small town just outside of the San Antonio area.
Pimentel who served on the Corpus Christi Police Department for several years, was pronounced dead just a few hours following the shooting.  The suspect has been identified as 24 year old Joshua Manuel Lopez.
Lopez had an active misdemeanor warrant for graffiti.
He will now be charged with the capital murder of a police officer.
Coming up tonight at 10, we'll hear from the president of the Corpus Christi Police Officer's Association and his reaction on this tragedy.
