Alert Neighbors Lead Police to Thieves on Bikes

Police had their hands full Monday morning as they were trying to track down alleged burglars on bikes.

It happened just after 11 a.m. at an apartment complex on Gaines Drive near the Seaside Memorial Park. Police said two thieves were going in and out of homes, driveways and the apartment complex, taking property from different areas around that neighborhood.

Eventually, an alert neighbor spotted the two and called the police.

"We found property from an apartment over here, and a van parked here, so we took them into custody," said Sgt. Ross Richard of the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Police said, if it were not for alert and attentive neighbors, the two would have never been caught.
