Alice Adopts Ordinance Prohibiting Cell Phone Use While Driving

The City of Alice is following the lead of Corpus Christi with a new city ordinance prohibiting the use of cell phones while driving.

The ordinance passed by the City Council technically went into effect April 21, but the Alice Police Department says there will be a one- to two-week grace period. For now, the police department is just issuing warnings, but after the grace period, officers will be issuing citations that carry fines of up to $200 per violation.

Right now, the police department wants to get the word out to the public about this new city ordinance.
