Alice Apartments Lose Water for Second Time in Two Weeks

It was a frustrating morning for residents of an apartment complex for the elderly in Alice. For the second time in as many weeks, they woke up Friday to find their water shut off.

"I can't do anything. I can't wash dishes. I can't use the toilet," said Opal Garcia, a resident of the High Rise Apartments. "I can't do anything because there is no water."

Garcia said it was just last week when they ran into the same inconvenience. The complex managers put up a notice on Friday telling residents that a clog in the main water line was the reason for the shut off.

Crews were on the scene Friday afternoon working to fix the problem.

"It's major. We have like 80 residents, and I would bet 40 of them are homebound, which means they don't leave their apartments," resident Carrie Coleman said. "So there is no one to go get water for them. No water for brushing teeth, flushing toilets, personal hygiene."

As of late Friday afternoon, water had been fully restored.
