Classes for the Alice ISD have been canceled for Friday following a water boil advisory issued by the city. Faculty and staff of the Alice ISD are still required to show up for work as scheduled.
The City of Alice issued a boil water advisory Thursday as required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality following a line break in a distribution system.
That line break was reportedly caused by a private contractor.
In order to ensure the destruction of harmful bacteria and other microbes, Alice residents are advised to boil and cool all water prior to consumption. The water should be brought to a rolling boil, and you should let it continue to boil for at least two minutes.
When the situation has been cleared, water system officials will notify residents that it is safe to consume the water without boiling.
