Alice Mayor John Lemon delivered the annual State of the City address on Tuesday, and unlike years in the past, the mayor said business is booming.
Of course, the Eagle Ford Shale oil field got a lot of credit for the recent success in Alice. The financial boom from that project has led to major development in Alice, including in City Works, as a major street and sewer improvement project has been going on for the last few years.
Also of interest was the progress on the $12 million westside expansion project, which includes a natatorium and city park.
Congressman Filemon Vela, who represents the Alice area in Washington, was also in attendance at Tuesday's State of the City address.
