Alleged Drunk Driver Taken Into Custody After Hitting Pole

An alleged drunk driver was taken into police custody Wednesday night after crashing her car into a pole.

It was just after 7:30 p.m. when the silver car collided with a pole at SPID and Behman. Police believed the female driver was intoxicated at the time. She refused to do a sobriety test, and was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. She was then processed and booked into custody.

It was an accident that could have been a lot worse had kids been trick-or-treating in the area.

"These streets are usually pretty crowded with lots of kids walking around and playing through here," said a Corpus Christi Police Department officer. "She's just really lucky tonight that she didn't hit anybody or kill anybody."
