American Bank Center Employees Help Habitat for Humanity

One nail at a time, one board at time, and a lot of sweat equity have built many homes for families who couldn't otherwise afford to buy one.

As of Tuesday, one more Habitat for Humanity home is almost complete, on the 1800 block of Craig.

The sweat equity comes not only from the future homeowner, but also volunteers. On Tuesday, employees of SMG, the managers of the American Bank Center, took the morning off to lend a helping hand. Some of them were out landscaping the property, and some were working inside.

"It's really nice to be able to be out here around Thanksgiving," said Samantha Koepp of the SMG American Bank Center. "It's a way for us to thank the community for all of their support at all of our facilities, and it's great just to get out here with our coworkers and do something good."

The American Bank Center volunteers started work at 7 a.m. And finished up by noon. If all goes as planned, the house will be ready for its family before Christmas.
