It's a program you may not know about. Animal Care Services is partnering with Meals on Wheels to supply food for pets of elderly residents.
This weekend, that program is running low on food and is in need of donations to keep it going. The program is called "Ani-meals."
It provides dry dog and cat food to 75 homes of Meals on Wheels recipients.
Every week animal control hands out about 75 bags of food. They began doing this after volunteers noticed residents who receive food from Meals on Wheels, actually go without eating and instead have been giving their meals to their pets. You can take donations to the shelter at 2626 Holly Road.
they are also asking for zipper plastic bags to distribute the food.
