Animal Care Services Hosts First-Ever Off-Site Adoption Event

The City's Animal Care Services is reaching out to the public in a different way to find forever homes for strays. They held their first ever adoption at a local business.

The event was called Canines and Cappuccino, and was held at Cactus and Vine Winery on Ayers between 3-6 p.m. Wednesday. The City is partnering with small businesses to try and find homes for strays that are being held at the kennels at Animal Care Services on Holly.

Four dogs were taken to the Cactus and Vine Winery and offered a free cup of cappuccino, and the City was offering the first 50 people who stopped by free microchips and 50 free dog licenses with proof of shots.

"It's actually our first off-site adoption event the City of Corpus Christi Animal Care Services is actually doing, so it's a first time for everything," said Danni Alcantara of Animal Care Services.

More Canines and Cappuccino events will be planned. Check with the Animal Care Services Facebook page for the latest information.

Meanwhile, 3News wanted to see if the problem of strays is still rampant in some city neighborhoods with problems in the past. We found a couple of dogs without collars roaming the neighborhoods near Baldwin and Agnes -- neighborhoods that were targeted in sweeps for strays over the past couple of years.

Animal Care Services is planning to have at least one off-site adoption event every month from here on.
