Animal Care Services Kill List Prompts Protest at Holly Road Facility

A list of dogs and cats set to be euthanized by the City's Animal Care Services prompted a protest Monday morning outside the facility on Holly Road.

The list was sent via email by Animal Care Services and shows pictures and names of the cats and dogs that are set to be euthanized. That's what brought protestors together to speak with the commander recently given the duty of overseeing the department for the City.

There are some 70 cats and dogs on the list, but protestors said they don't want the City to run a kill shelter.

Commander John Houston, who currently oversees Animal Care Services, met with protestors. He said that money recently won through the Rachel Ray Challenge will be used to improve conditions, and protestors approved.

Kiii News Reporter Brian Burns went Live from outside Animal Care Services with the details.
