Aransas Pass Releases New Information Regarding Animal Shelter

The City of Aransas Pass released new information Wednesday regarding its animal shelter, specifically what it was that led the City to revert back to euthanizing animals instead of adopting them out.

A letter released by the City reveals that some staffers had been adopting out animals for the express purpose of hunting and fighting. It was also learned that in at least one case, a sick animal was adopted out only to be put down by the new owner a short time later.

Euthanization is said to be a means to prevent a possible health risk to the community. However, they say no animals have been put down since June 20.
