Area Firefighters Raising Questions About Approved Facility

A group of Corpus Christi Firefighters and residents are concerned the city is not delivering on construction of a new fire station approved by voters in a 2008 bond. That station is supposed to have been built on Ayers near Saratoga by the bowling alley. It would be Fire Station Number 18. Money from the bond was also supposed to supplement repairs to current stations which has been completed. However, the new fire station was never built. Last night, during a townhall meeting firefighters showed a recent city study claming an 18th fire station was not needed. Firefighters disputed that finding adding a new station is necessary to accommodate the growing city.
